Estimates suggest that certain YouTubers in Kerala were earning annual incomes ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. The authorities have emphasized that this is merely the initial phase of the investigation and that further scrutiny will follow.The Kozhikode unit of the Income Tax Department registered cases and conducted searches in multiple districts, namely Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Kasaragod, Ernakulam, and Palakkad. The inspection commenced at 8 am and continued throughout the day, with 10 teams led by the Kochi Intelligence Division of the Income Tax Department leading the investigation.

The primary focus of the investigation was to identify and uncover instances of tax evasion committed by these YouTubers.
