Arun Vijay, formerly known as Arunkumar, is an Indian actor residing in Alwarthiru Nagar. He is the only son of veteran film actor Vijayakumar and has been active in the Tamil film industry since 1995.
Actor Arun Vijay’s recent release ‘Thadam’ shows an upward trend at the box office. Thanks to the positive word of mouth, the number of shows and screens are getting increased for the film. The latest update is that Arun Vijay has signed a new cop thriller. Earlier, the actor donned the Khaki in Kuttram 23.
To be directed by Gopinath Narayanamoorthy, a former associate of directors Kannan and Milan, the yet-untitled cop thriller will start rolling by the end of March.
Arun Vijay says “Unlike Kuttram 23 which is a medical crime thriller, this new film will be a murder mystery. It travels in a cop’s angle as he investigates a series of murders in the city”. The actor also has Agni Siragugal with Vijay Antony and Boxer in the pipeline.
Meanwhile in his recent interview with Nakheeran Studio, the actor revealed about his earlier days in Tamil cinema industry. When the host asks about his appearance looking similar to actor Vijay in his older days, Arun accepts that they both had the similar looks indeed and also has similar release dates for their films.
When the host asks about the film appreciations and movie distributions of that time Arun said “Vijay has his father to look at all those things but my father let me everything to learn myself. So I did not know anything about distributions and all as I am very early at that age” said Arun in the interview.

Arun Vijay’s recent release Thadam outperformed it’s competitor 90ML as it had a bad word of mouth. Thadam has raked in Rs 86.66 lakh from 177 shows in the first weekend in Chennai, reports Behindwoods. It is considered to be an above-average opening, by the trade trackers.
Arun Vijay was born into a film family as the only son to actor Vijayakumar and his first wife Muthukannu. He studied at Don Bosco Maticulation Primary School, Egmore. After completing his schooling, Arun joined Loyola college for his higher studies. He has two elder sisters Kavitha, who has acted in a single film, Coolie, and Anitha. Arun Vijay’s step mother is actress Manjula Vijayakumar, who played lead roles in over 100 films in the 1970s, while his half-sisters Vanitha, Preetha and Sridevi have also appeared in several films.
In 2006, Arun Vijay married Aarthi, daughter of film producer Dr. N. S. Mohan and a post-graduate in Psychology, with whom he has a daughter, Purvi and a son, Arnav Vijay.
