While the entire Tamil social media is celebrating the achievement of actor Vijay Sethupathi in winning the national awards for the first time in his acting career, a video of the actor saying that he won’t accept the award from the central government is doing rounds. In the four year old video, Vijay, while replying to a reporter, could be seen saying that he won’t accept the national award from central government due to the way they oppress language Tamil and people of Tamil nadu.

Meanwhile, a twitter media user came up with a tweet recalling a statement made by actor Vijay Sethupathi in the press meet of his film “Karuppan” which took place four years ago.

Video of the same is also trending in Internet where the actor could be seen answering to a reporter in a way of condemning the central government. “Would you receive the national award from the central government amidst this NEET issue if it was given to you for acting in this culturally significant film ?” asked the reporter.

“This question is being asked in advance. You don’t have to worry, I won’t accept the award. My place and my people are important for me and I won’t be doing it” the actor says amidst the loud claps of the reporters. Further Vijay Sethupathi expressed his disappointment over Tamil language getting removed from train tickets and requested people not to get emotional and to focus on progressive actions.
