The accused, film producers and event organizers Sanjay Saha, his mother Nandita Saha, and Radhika Nanda, allegedly promised profitable returns on investments in an event and film production firm. However, they purportedly misused the funds for their wrongful self-gain. A fraud case has been filed on behalf of the Oberois by their accountant, Deven Bafna, leading to a cheating case being registered by the MIDC police.

The Creation of Oberoi Organics and Anandita Entertainment, In 2017, Vivek Oberoi and his wife Priyanka established a company named Oberoi Organics with high hopes. Unfortunately, the venture did not achieve the anticipated success. Determined to revive the business, they decided to bring in Sanjay Saha, Nandita Saha, and Radhika Nanda as partners and restructure the company as an events business, to be called Anandita Entertainment. This strategic decision was finalized between the parties in July 2020.

Transfer of Shares and Mishandling of Funds, Subsequently, after a few months, Vivek Oberoi made a pivotal move by transferring his shares to another company he owned, Oberoi Mega Entertainment. He entrusted the day-to-day operations of the joint venture to Sanjay Saha and Radhika Nanda. Little did he know that this decision would pave the way for an alleged financial deception.

The Revelation of Wrongful Self-Gain, In April 2022, an employee informed Vivek Oberoi about potential financial misconduct within the joint venture. In response, he sought the expertise of his accountant, Deven Bafna, to investigate the matter further. The investigation revealed that Sanjay Saha had purportedly used the company’s funds for personal expenses, including paying the life insurance premium for his mother. Additionally, Radhika Nanda was found to have withdrawn money from the company for her personal benefit. The total amount siphoned off by the two partners exceeded ₹58 lakh, as confirmed by the account statements.

Confrontation and Further Accusations, Armed with evidence of the alleged wrongdoing, Vivek Oberoi confronted his business partners. During the confrontation, he also questioned them about another instance where they were accused of cheating actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui of ₹51 lakh. Oberoi, in an act of responsibility on behalf of the company, had personally returned this amount from his own accounts.
