Actor Vishnu Vishal who impressed audience with his quite exciting filmography, has a separate fanbase for his cricketing skills. The way he performed in Celebrity Cricket League garnered wide attention from Tamil cinema fans who later came to know that Vishu was supposed to become a cricket player. Initially he pursued a career in Cricket but unfortunately he couldn’t fulfill it due to a leg injury at that time which forced him to take rest for a long time. However, the actor always expressed his passion towards sports through his films. Vishnu Vishal played league games in Tamil nadu cricket Association before entering film industry.

In his debut film, Vennila Kabbhdi Kuzhu which was directed by Suseendhran, Vishnu played a role of a Kabbadi player. He also acted as a cricket player in the same director’s Jeeva which became blockbuster. In the film Vishnu played a role of a struggling cricketer who tries to grab a place in the national team. Now, the actor got a mention from Chennai based Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the role he played in Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu.

When ICC’s official twitter account asked “Who is the one player from another sport you think would’ve made a good cricketer?”, Ashwin replied by mentioning a fictional character of actor Vadivelu from “Kovil” movie. And then he also added a poster of Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu and asked his followers to mention their favourite player from another sport. The cricketer wrote “Like Vishnu Vishal.. marimuthu from Vennila Kabbadi kuzhu.” by mentioning the actor.

On seeing this comment, Vishnu Vishal who got mentioned felt bad for not becoming a cricketer. He said that he quit cricket when T20 was introduced and expressed his belief towards the particular format being his strength. “Haha Ash..sometimes even i think i should have continued..i quit when 20/20 was introduced and that would have bee my strength..but LIFE has its own plans..” Vishnu’s reply said.
