A whopping five new small-to-medium-budget films were released last weekend. This includes Vijay Sethupathi’s Seethakaathi (December 20), Jayam Ravi’s Adangamaru, Dhanush’s Maari 2, sports drama Kanaa and Vishnu Vishal’s Silukkuvarpatti Singam. Add KGF: Chapter 1 (a big budget Kannada film dubbed to Tamil) and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero to this list and it remains to be seen if any of these films stand a chance at the Tamil Nadu box office this weekend.

And before the audience can process these films, it’s again time for the next festival (Pongal) and a new set of films such as Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam. Now as the year has been nearing its end, the Managing director of Chrompet’s Vettri theater Rakesh conducted a poll asking which is the best film of 2018. He conducted the poll between Vishnu Vishal’s Ratchasan, Pariyerum Perumal, Vada chennai and 96.
Vishnu’s Ratchasan won the poll by high margin receiving 51% of the vote. Sharing the poll Rakesh appreciated Vishnu for the film being the best film of his career. He wrote “#Ratchasan has been selected unanimously as the best film of this year @vishnuuvishal bro,do u remember I told u this one wud have been ur career best in terms of BO had released it on a different date on Trident25 Congrats 4 this gr8 achievement & more to come #VettriStats“

In a note of replying to this tweet Vishnu thanked Rakesh. But also Vishnu expressed his disappointment on Tamil film producer council as his next film “Silukuvaarpatti Singam” getting a wrong date. In his reply tweet Vishnu wrote “:) yes ..but stil this has been my career best box offc collctions 🙂 now tell me how to come on a good date when @TFPCTN gives release letters to all movies one aftr the othr for one date:) they know wat movies to protect n wat movies not to :)”

He asked how to come on a good date when TFPC gives release letters to all movies on one date. He also quoted “They know what movies to protect and what movies not to” in his tweet which evident for his frustration.

Here’s how Rakesh replied him :
That’s really sad, even in the case of X-Mas releases it’s too many to accommodate … content good but overall less on BO due to fewer screens … it’s a global loss, even audience can’t afford to watch 4 movies in 10 days ☹️

Recently actor Nakhul’s Sei movie also faced the similar problem. In a press meet Nakhul condemned the release of Vijay Antony’s “Thimuru Pudichavan” who accused the film as it has no right to release on their release date.

Actor Nakhul Condemns “Thimuru Pudichavan” Release !! “This Is Unfair !!” He Worries !!
“They bought the Diwlai date even though they are aware of Sarkar’s release. Why shouldn’t they release their movie on Diwali itself ?? Why are they changing their date ?? Then what is the meaning of the letter given to us by producers council ??” asked the crew members.
