Four were booked under sections of the IPC including those dealing with sexual harassment (354 A) and assault (354 B). They were also booked under sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Women’s Harassment Act. The police say they are contemplating slapping the Goondas Act on the others. The investigation in the Pollachi case is ongoing and it is also reported that the case was transferred into CBI.

In a horrifying case of sexual harassment reported from Tamil Nadu, the police have arrested four people in connection with the case while the prime accused confessed there are more people involved. The case involves gang members who used to befriend women on social media websites luring them to meet and then forcefully shooting their obscene videos. A total of eight arrests were made in Pollachi, located in Tamil Nadu’s northwestern Coimbatore district, in February and March.

This incident created massive outrage in the state Tamilnadu where many started protesting in order to get the culprits what they deserve. Apart from the public who are very much angry on the rapists, many celebrities started to raise their voice for the victims. Even some wanted them to die immediately.

Vijay television, a famous private television channel expressed their sorrow over the issue by posting it in social media. In their post the Twitter account of the Television posted a picture saying “Manasu Valikthu” (Heart aches) with Pollachi in hashtag.

But the followers of the account seemed that they are not in the mood of receiving the post in a same manner of Vijay Tv. For posting it many days later, many followers mocked and abused the channel.
