Vignesh Shivan Uploads An Emotional Post After Failing To Win Oscar !!

“Koozhangal”, India’s official entry in the International feature film category at the 2022 Academy awards, is out of the Oscar race as the board released the official list of 15 short listed films that emerged from across the world on Wednesday. Director Vignesh Shivan who owns the film that was directed by Vinoth, came up with an emotional post through is official twitter handle and is being consoled by his online followers.
However, Indian documentary feature “Writing with fire” has been entered the next round, according to the shortlists announced by the Academy of motion pictures Arts and sciences on 22nd of December. The 15 films includes “Great Freedom” (Austria) – directed by Sebastian Meise, “Playground” (Belgium) – directed by Laura Wandel, “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom” (Bhutan) – directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji, “Flee”(Denmark) – directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, “Compartment No. 6” (Finland) – directed by Juho Kuosmanen, “l’m Your Man” (Germany) directed by Maria Schrader, “Lamb” (lceland) directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson, “A Hero” (Iran) – directed by Asghar Farhadi, “The Hand of God” (Italy) – directed by Paolo Sorrentino, “Drive My Car” (Japan) directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, “Hive” (Kosovo) – directed by Blerta Basholli, “Prayers for the Stolen” (Mexico) directed by Tatiana Huezo, “The Worst Person in the World” (Norway) – directed by Joachim Trier, “Plaza Catedral” (Panama) – directed by Abner Benaim, “The Good Boss” (Spain) directed by Fernando León de Aranoa.
Vinothraj PS, a debutant helmed “Koozangal” which is India’s official entry for “Oscars”. The film’s plot revolves around an alcoholic man and his son, who set off to bring their wife/mother back home after she goes to the house of her parents. The film is being screened at several film festivals including the prestigious International Film festival of Rotterdam, where it became the first Tamil film to win the Tiger awards. The film also got screened at the “Shanghai film festival”.
The film recently got nominated for the spirit awards in the United states. The final nominations are going to be announced on 8t of February and the announcement about the winners is going to be made on 27th of March. Meanwhile, director Vignesh Shivan who has been backing “Pebbles”, expressed his emotions about his film failing to make it to the final 15.

The happiness & pride that we could have brought in to independent cinema makers and producers like us would have been remarkable! In his another tweet, The “Naanum Rowdy Thaan” maker said “Would have been great to be on this list ! Nevertheless I thank @PsVinothraj for giving such a pure cinema! I thank the Indian jury members for selecting our film as the official entry for the oscars this year. Thanking all our well-wishers & friends for rooting for us”
