A viral video that shows a woman pointing out the regressive aspects of the recently released Vijay film “Varisu” is doing rounds in social media platforms. In the video, the woman could be seen saying that the film promotes patriarchy and a star like Vijay shouldn’t have been acted in the film.
“I didn’t like anything in the movie. In old Sivaji-MGR films, sentiments would have been handled in a better way. Nothing looked good, Unnecessary BGM throughout the film” the woman said after watching the movie.
“Jokes apart, the film repeatedly talks about family values but forcing women in family to tolerate all the problems in a modern way. Even if a husband goes with another woman, a wife should live in the family for her children, is what the film preaches” she further said.
“Expecting women to stay in their house irrespective of the troubles they are going through, is really bad and these kind of films shouldn’t come. A family should be democratic but no film is taking about it. This kind of huge budget and a star like Vijay is not needed for this kind of film” she added.

The plot of “Varisu” revolves around a dying father seeking the help of his youngest son to take care of his business reputation. The entire film relies on how the son made his father’s last wishes to come true and reformed his two elder brothers who got detached themselves from the family to pursue what they want.
The film is running successfully in theatres with mixed reviews from the audience.
Check out some of the reactions her review received :
i don’t understand how people can even appreciate #Varisu with a straight face when it’s sooo deeply regressive in the familial values that it espouses – mothers, wives and daughters should be the ones to accept and settle for bad husbands and fathers all for the sake of family?!

She points the movie supports patriarchy and misogyny in a polished way. Instead of coming up with an answer how the movie doesn’t, these anils are abusing her. 😂 https://t.co/7w4JQQi65D

It’s awesome to see the evolution of reaction videos post movies . Earlier everyone used to be camera shy and blurt out “ok” and try to get off camera. Now people take their time and analyse what’s right and wrong on the movie better than most reviewers. https://t.co/jrPsyJa8gp

The way she speaks might be offending for fans, but she is spitting facts. https://t.co/cR2Gct4YNj

So glad to see this. THIS is a necessary criticism and I trust the audience more than any critic. We cannot overlook any more stupid mistakes in thinly recycled scripts anymore. Times have changed, so must we, and Anna must become more self conscious! Yennoda kutty story. 🫡♥️ https://t.co/13Lo3tW1jF

Yabba, enna kizhi? 😂😂😂
Aana avanga soldradhu unmai dhaan. There were a lot of regressive thoughts in the movie that could’ve been avoided. https://t.co/YN67WaLFkN

Forget Varisu., I love this Akka’s attitude. No sugar coated lines. Straight on point about women empowerment and tolerance.. to many such women who are raising stronger next generation girls 🫡. https://t.co/LZO6VAzXus

As much as I mostly liked the film, i completely agree with her view. Why Sangeetha’s character got back with her cheating husband I’ll never know, that could’ve been avoided by Vamshi imo https://t.co/gS3iGRG3jo

I just can’t deny this fact…..! I’m not a vijay hater.
Just listen to what she’s saying.
