A 23-year-old young adult was beaten up by 7 school students at Tirur in Malapuram, a week ago. The students are studying in class 11. It is reported that the man texted 13 years old minor girl. The girl is the sister of one of the seven students.

The video was attacking the young man was posted on social media. The video shows the students lashing and pulling down the youth from a two-wheeler. They used sticks to beat the man. It is heard in the video that the students question the man as, “Who gave you the girl’s number?” and “My sister is only in class 6, what all text have you sent her?”

According to the police officials of Tirur, the young man has sustained minor injuries after the attack. A case was registered against the students. The police further reported that the 13 years old girl is the sister of one of those students of class 11. The young man has sent her texts on Instagram saying that he likes her. The girl has shown this to her parents also. 

A complaint is registered against the students by the young man and his parents. But nobody was arrested as the boys are minors. The police officials had talked to the parents of the boys and they were asked to present before the magistrate after the Oman holidays.

An FIR has been filed against the students under sections 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence commit­ted in the prosecution of common object) of the Indian Penal Code.
