Tamil Nadu was shaken by the series of sexual harassment cases in Pollachi. About eight people so far have been arrested in Coimbatore in relation to the case.

It is said that a gang of four members has been sexually assaulting women for years now and several women have been victims of horrific crimes.

The crimes came to light when a college student, who was sexually abused by the gang, complained it to her brother, who later went to the police.

The news has caused a huge outrage from the citizens of Tamil Nadu, who are now demanding severe punishment for the culprits. Tamil film personalities have also expressed their anger and demanded speedy action from the government.

Right from GV Prakash Kumar, Jayam Ravi, Varalaxmi to Chinmayi, Sathyaraj are among the many Tamil celebs who took to Twitter to express their shock and anger over the issue.

Now recently in the press meet of the film “Nedunalvadai”, Lyricist Vairamuthu has opened for the first time about the outrage that occurred. In the video it is seen Vairamuthu condemning the act of those men who sexually harassed that girl.

“Rather than ripping of them apart into pieces We have to rip off the skin of the monster in their inner side. This film  doing the job of it. My language doing the same. I believe Art and Artists has the duty and concern to destroy the devil inside every human.” said Vairamuthu in this press meet.

Chinmayi who accused Vairamuthu months back as he harassed her sexually took her facebook account to response to this speech of him. In her post Chinmayi wrote “Pengal sudhandhiram pathi, sexual harassment pathi yevar pesanum nu vevasthaye illama pochu. Ivara thookki Women and Child Welfare minister aakkinaalum aakkuvaanga Tamilnadu la. Idhu dhaan kalachara poraalis oda yoggiyam.”

Chinmayi is the leading face of South India in the movement of MeToo.  In a series of tweets, the singer said that the lyricist asked her to ‘cooperate’ and threatened to ruin her career. In an interview with India Today Television, Chinmayi said, “I decided to speak out now because it is the right time. If this hadn’t become a people’s movement, I wouldn’t have had the guts to speak up and I would have taken this to my grave.” said Chinmayi at that time.

After exposing an influential person like Vairamuthu, the singer stated that she could lose her career for calling him out – “When he did this, I was unaware of it. My mother wanted to shield me from this. She told Vairamuthu’s manager that she will take care of my career and even if I didn’t have a career it’s fine.”

But now it is unclear if the singer lodged complaint against the Lyricist or not. However recently she replied on a twitter user saying that she lodged complaint but police are refusing to take action against him as he has connection with Political big shots.
