Vaani Kapoor is an Indian actress known among Tamil audience for acting in 2014 romantic comedy Aaha Kalyanam. In the film she paired opposite to actor Naani. Though the film didn’t do well in box office, Vaani Kapoor became a familiar face among Tamil cinema fans through her social media existence. She is one of the many actresses who is very much active in social media platforms, especially in the photo uploading app Instagram.

Having more than 30 lakh followers in Instagram, Vaani Kapoor has posted 618 posts in her Instagram account so far. Being an actress, she always posted pictures of herself from various photoshoots with different attires. Many of her Instagram posts were lauded by her followers for the way she carries herself in them. But her recent Instagram post landed the actress in big trouble as it hurt the sentiments of Hindu religion.

The post which was removed by the actress immediately after the widespread outrage it received, made a Mumbai based man to register complaint about it in police station. In the picture, Vaani Kapoor was seen wearing a blouse which had the name “Ram” written on it in Hindi. The complainant Rama Sawant who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shri Ram, filed complaint in Mumbai’s NM Joshi Marg police station and the Mumbai police commissioner alleges that Vaani has hurt religious sentiments with her revealing outfit.

Rama Sawant in his complaint letter said “The undersigned is an ardent devotee of ‘Lord Shri Ram’. The undersigned has come across a photograph of Bollywood actress by name Ms Vaani Kapoor on her Instagram, where under, she is found in vulgar cloth in semi-nude position and over her body and more particularly from her shoulder to breast, she is found to be wearing blouse/brassiere made out a cloth-like Ramnami, in as much as the names of Lord Shri Ram has been described containing ‘Shri Ram’, which denotes to Lord Shri Ram.”

The complaint of Rama Sawant further said “In view of the facts set out hereinabove, and law enunciated by the Hon’ble Apex Court and so also various high courts of the Country including Hon’ble High Court, Bombay, you are requested to forthwith register an FIR against actress Vaani Kapoor for an offence punishable u/s. 215A of IPC and take further legal action so that she is brought to book/punished in accordance with the law.”

The complainant also said that Vaani Kapoor was called by police to register her statement. However, apart from taking down the picture from her Instagram account, there is no reaction from the actress yet regarding the accusation against her.
