In a startling turn of events, a village panchayat in Hapur district, UP, issued an unconventional ruling that resulted in a young man receiving 15 sandal slaps from a woman as a form of punishment. The incident, which took place on August 14, was captured on a viral video, sparking widespread discussion and controversy across social media platforms.

The incident unfolded against the backdrop of a village dispute that initially involved a police case. On August 13, a woman lodged a complaint against a young man at the Bahadur police station, accusing him of coercing her into a relationship by threatening to share a pornographic video of her if she refused his marriage proposal. In response to her complaint, the police registered an FIR against the accused youth.

However, due to the local nature of the dispute, the community opted to address the matter through a panchayat—a traditional village council. On August 14, the panchayat convened to resolve the issue between the victim and the accused youth. During the panchayat session, a decision was reached to publicly administer punishment to the young man in the presence of the community.

The ruling stipulated that the woman should deliver sandal slaps to the young man for his alleged misdeeds. In adherence to the panchayat’s decision, the woman proceeded to deliver 15 slaps on the young man’s face in a span of about 2 minutes. The shocking incident was not limited to the slaps alone; after delivering the blows, the woman also removed the youth’s shirt in an unsettling turn of events.

The viral video of the incident captured the voices of onlookers, with some women in the crowd demanding that the young man’s entire attire be removed. Despite the earlier registration of a case against the accused youth for allegedly sharing a defamatory video, no arrest had been made until this point. The victim’s repeated visits to the police station resulted in no action, leading to a compromise sought through the panchayat.

Subsequent to the panchayat’s ruling and the viral video’s circulation, the police were compelled to address the situation. Authorities took the young man’s health condition into consideration, as he was reported to be in critical condition following the incident. He was subsequently hospitalized for medical attention.
