I am really disgusted to read this. It’s 2022 and people are discussing the merits of dowry? In uneducated households in India, there are news of brides getting burned alive by in-laws. Dowry system is due to the culmination of illiteracy, immorality and evilness. https://t.co/mE3aWpPF4A

The matter escalated after Priyanka Chathruvedi, Shiv sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP tagged minister of education Dharmendra Pradhan and requested him to remove such books from circulation.
“I request Shri @dpradhanbjp ji to remove such books from circulation. That a textbook elaborating the merits of dowry can actually exist in our curriculum is a shame for the nation and its constitution” her tweet read.
