Actor and Politician Udhayanithi Stalin who has been grabbing headlines in recent times for his outspoken attitude, triggered a fan war after expressing his opinion over the performance of “Annaththe” in a recent event that took place for a YouTube channel. Udhay said that the film could have been made well and added that it didn’t do good at the box office as well. He who distributed the film, also said that he didn’t watch the film yet. His statements caused rift between the fans of Superstar Rajinikanth and the fans of other actors.

“Annatthe” released on theatres across the world on the special occasion of “Diwali” festival of year 2021 with much expectations. Fans of the actor who didn’t get satisfied with his previous film “Darbar” were eagerly waiting for the film to get released. However, as soon as getting released, the film started receiving mixed reviews from the audience. Many said that the film didn’t work due to its slow pace and the old school brother-sister sentiment. However, Super star Rajinikanth’s screen presence and energy got admired by the audience.

The Siva directorial revolves around “Kaalaiyan” who is the president for a number of villages in a rural part of Tamil nadu. Sky is the limit for the amount of affection he has for his sister, played by Keerthy Suresh. She gets eloped with her boy friend after nodding “yes” to her affectionate brother who fixes an alliance for her. She happily lives in Kolkata after marrying her boyfriend until villain enters to illegally control her firms. Rest of the film relies on the struggles faced by Keerthy Suresh and how Kaalaiyan destroys the villain and his aides.

Despite of the decent plot and star studded casting, the slow paced screen play and cliched sentiment scenes tested the patience of audience. Almost all the reviewers of Kollywood film industry criticized the film for the weak plot. Udhayanithi Stalin who distributed the film through his Red Giant Movies, in a recent event, said that the film could have done better content wise and box office wise.

In the segment, anchor Archana asked Udhayanithi to tell how the movies that are going to appear in the big screen performed at the box office. For “Etharkkum Thuninthavan”, Udhay said that the movie did good commercially. For “Beast”, Udhay said that the film could have been made well but it is a huge success commercially.

“Don is Sivakarthikeyan’s career best film. It collected Rs. 38 crore in Tamil nadu alone” he said. For “Cobra”, Udhay said that it is average at the box office. “Love Today is made of a budget of Rs. 5 and half crore and the makers have sold it to OTT for the same price. In tamil nadu alone, this film is expected to collect Rs. 18 to 20 crores which is huge” Udhayanithi said. “Vendhu Thaninthathu Kaadu” is a blockbuster, he declared.

When the poster of “Annatthe” appeared, Udhay said that it is just average. “The film was supposed to become commercial success. It could have been made better. I haven’t watched the film, though” he said. ‘
