Fans of Rajinikanth took to Twitter early morning on Wednesday in order to wish the superstar Thalaiva a happy birthday. As the actor-turned-politician turns  68 today, his followers started to flood social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with their wishes.

Rajinikanth is a celebrated Indian actor, whose fan-following is pre-dominant specifically in the South. Besides being a Kollywood cine-star, Rajini, one of his other popular names that he is called by, is also a politician and a philanthropist.

Do you know that his real name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad? And the fact that he had started his career as  a bus conductor in the Bangalore Transport Service.  It was during that time itself he started acting in plays and later followed his passion for the same by joining Madras Film Institute at the age of 23.

Another fact you can’t miss about Thalaiva (a word that means a boss or a leader) that in the early stages of his career, he used to portray antagonistic roles in Tamil films. He made his debut at the age of 25 with the 1975 movie Apoorva Raagangal.

It is also expected that he will reply to the rest. At the audio launch of Petta, which was held on December 9, Rajinikanth revealed that he wouldn’t be in town to meet his fans or anyone on his birthday. He is now gearing up for the release of Petta, which will hit the theatres on Pongal 2019.
