 According To News Tamil Reports: A video featuring a constable from the Vilathikulam Police Deputy Superintendent’s office has gone viral on social media. The footage captures the constable, Rajendran, venturing into a forest alone with a young woman, leading to widespread speculation and concern among the public and within the police department. The incident has also resulted in a physical altercation between the person responsible for recording the video and the constable himself.

Rajendran, originally from K. Sundareswarapuram village near Vilathikulam in the Tuticorin district, joined the police department in 2009 and has served in various capacities before becoming a first-level constable at the Vilathikulam Police Sub-Inspector Camp Office.

The video has rapidly spread on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, capturing Constable Rajendran dressed in a t-shirt and lungi, with his face concealed by a dupatta in a chutidhar. Accompanying him is a young woman wearing a chutidaar and using a dupatta to cover her face. Both appear to be in a state of fear as they realize someone is surreptitiously filming them.

The emergence of the video has exacerbated existing concerns within the Vilathikulam police sub-district regarding sexual complaints and disciplinary issues. In recent days, three assistant inspectors and one inspector have been transferred to the armed forces due to similar allegations.

The video’s circulation has sparked debates about safety protocols and ethical standards within the police department. Many members of the public and activists are outraged, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident and the conduct of the constable involved.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the police department has launched an internal inquiry to ascertain the circumstances and intentions behind Constable Rajendran’s actions.
