The chairperson of the committee on the new National Education Policy, K Kasturirangan, has cleared the air on the Hindi bias in the draft policy. But the debate on Hindi imposition in Tamilnadu is still being argued. Few social media users continue to state that citizens of India must learn Hindi, irrespective of which state they live in, while others insist that learning the language is not a necessity.

Tamil actor Siddharth who is very much vocal on the current issues of the society posted couple of tweets regarding the matter. He joined the #HindiImposition debate on Twitter, in reply to a Twitter user called Mayur Puri, who sought to urge South Indians to embrace Hindi instead of preferring to learn English.
First you ‘brothers’ stop clubbing multiple languages older and more significant than #Hindi as southwalla!
Second, learn the names of our states and languages and try to pronounce the names properly. No more thaaamil, kannad, kayral etc. https://t.co/nxmeNNTBXI

Followed by that he also posted couple of tweets against the Hindi Imposition. “There is a big difference between a native #Tamil speaker learning #Hindi vs being forced to study it and write exams in it. I speak 5 languages and understand 10. I wasn’t forced to learn them and that’s how it should be. #India is a mixture of great languages. Leave them be,” he said in a tweet.

Check out his other tweet here :
Nobody from #TamilNadu needs to learn #Hindi forcefully. They will learn it if and when the need arises, as is the case for any language other than the mother tongue. Any #Indian who wants to communicate abroad would choose to learn #English ahead of #Hindi. End of discussion.
