Santhanam, a comedian turned hero was loved by most of the Tamil cinema fans since his initial stage where he did lead role in the epic spoof show “Lollu Sabha” in Vijay Television. He made his debut in Simbu’s Manmadhan movie but got only a less screen space in the movie.

Then he made his mark in Tamil cinema as comedian through films like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Raja Rani, Endrendrum Punnagai etc. He has also repeatedly collaborated in the films of A L Vijay, Siva and Sundar C as well as in films featuring Silambarasan, Arya and Udhayanidhi Stalin.

His consistently well-received performances and box office appeal in the early 2010s prompted the film industry to dub him as the “Comedy Superstar”. In 2012, he began a film production company named Handmade Films and produced his first film, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya which went on to become a commercially successful venture.

The actor then debuted as hero in the movie which was named as Vallavanuku Pullum Aayutham. After few films as hero with no notable success, the actor was last seen in Dhilukku Dhuttu 2 and released teaser of his next film A1.
