Hundreds of college students, lawyers and members of women’s organisations in the State took to the streets on Wednesday demanding action against the accused in the Pollachi sexual abuse case. Students boycotted classes and staged sit-ins demanding stringent punishment.

Protests rippled across Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts condemning the offenders and seeking protection for women. Students of the government arts colleges in Coimbatore and Udumalpet in Tiruppur boycotted classes and staged a demonstration seeking the arrest of all the persons involved in the scam.

Many celebrities expressed their emotions on the outrageous incident where as some of the female celebrities came up with videos to condemn the act of the monsters. Athulya Ravi is an Indian actress who has appeared in Tamil films. After making her debut with Kadhal Kan Kattudhe, Athulya has gone on to act in films including V. Z. Durai’s Yemaali and Samuthirakani’s Naadodigal 2. She raised her voice in a serious note about the issue.

Followed by her Aruvi actress Aditi Balan also released a video on the same. In the video she says that Police alerting the criminals once the videos got to their hands is the most disgusting thing one could ever witness. She also reasons that Police is the reason behind those hundreds of girls could not come forward. “Police officers are not providing safety to those girls who comes forward to complain” says Adithi in this video. “Even if I went to police station for solution, I never felt like getting one.” she added.

Chinmayi, famous dubbing artist and singer also opened on this issue. She is also known for her representation of #MeToo movement in south India. In the video she talked about many issue including why the hundreds of victims could not come up to complaint it to the police.
