Fuelled by anger and a perceived sense of dishonor, Kavya’s father, the Sarpanch of Itikalpalli village, along with his relatives, resorted to extreme measures. They set fire to Ranjith’s house, completely destroying it. Shockingly, their violent rampage did not end there. Four other houses belonging to individuals who had supported the couple were also set ablaze, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in the village.

In a deeply unsettling turn of events, Kavya revealed in an interview that she and Ranjith had sought legal protection and counseling after their marriage.
