As opportunities dwindled, Mohan made the difficult decision to move from his hometown to Thiruparangundram a few years ago in search of better prospects. Sadly, he found himself in a dire financial situation and turned to begging on the main chariot road to survive. With the loss of his wife a decade earlier, his financial struggles were further compounded, leaving him with no other means of livelihood.

On July 31, locals discovered Mohan lying lifeless on the road and immediately informed the police. His appearance had deteriorated to such an extent that he was hardly recognizable. The police recovered his body and sent it to Madurai Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. During the initial investigation, the police were unaware of the victim’s identity, and it was only later that they confirmed him to be the veteran actor Mohan. The police found no signs of foul play, attributing his demise to natural causes, as he had been battling with ill health.

Mohan’s story sheds light on the often unspoken struggles faced by many artists in the entertainment industry. Despite having a distinct flair in each of his roles, he faced an uphill battle in securing consistent work and financial stability.
