Actor Siddharth came up with an explanation for the tweet he posted against Saina Nehwal after it created a huge controversy among the supporters of BJP and some of the cinema celebrities. Former Indian Cricketer and current Chennai Super Kings top order batsman Suresh Raina expressed his condemnation over the actor’s tweet. The cricketer said that he is feeling sad on seeing the words that were used against Saina and added that he condemns the language. It all started after Tamil nadu based Pan Indian Actor Siddharth posted a reply tweet to India’s Badminton Champion Saina Nehwal who claimed that Prime minister Narendra Modi got attacked in PUnjab. Saina Nehwal said that no nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own Prime minister is compromised and condemned the “cowardly” “attack” on Prime minister Narendra Modi.

Replying to her tweet, Siddharth sarcastically thanked God and termed Saina Nehwal as a “protector” of the nation and called Saina as a “Subtle cock Champion” in his tweet. He also condemned globally acclaimed pop singer Rihanna who uploaded a tweet supporting Indian farmers earlier. “Subtle cock champion of the world… Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna” said Siddharth in his tweet while replying to Saina.

A number of celebrities including BJP’s Gayathri Raguramm, Director Mohan G, Singer Chinmayi condemned actor Siddharth for his reply. “This is really crass, Siddharth. You just contributed to what a lot of us women are fighting against” said Singer Chinmayi whereas actress cum politician Gayathri Raguramm said that she feels worried about Siddharth’s tweet which was posted to grab attention for his upcoming films.

Reacting to the condemnations, The “Boy” actor came up with a clarification saying “COCK & BULL. That’s the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading! Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period” Siddharth said.

However, the actor’s clarification didn’t go well with a number of online users. Rajesh Kelra, twitter bio of whom says that he belongs to Asianet news and a Mountaineer, said that Siddharth’s explanation is a lame one. “Such disgusting language (the lame explanation four days later notwithstanding) against anyone is a no no! And this is about our sporting icon and pride, fmr world No 1, Olympic and World championship medalist, @NSaina. Sad and pathetic!” his twee read.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina joined him and said that he stands with Saina and termed Siddharth’s twee as a “loose language”. “Sportspersons give their sweat and blood for their nation. As an Indian sportsperson and as a human being, I stand with Saina and condemn the disgusting language in the tweet” Suresh Raina’s tweet read.
