CB CID reports have suggested that three of the Police officers who got arrested on Thursday, seemed very much depressed and worried of their family, according to Thanthi. Four police officers linked to Sathankulam lockup murder have been arrested under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code on Thursday. Sub-inspector Raghu Ganesh was the first one to get arrested regarding the case. The three others which includes sub inspector Bala Krishnan and constables Murugan and Muthuraj. Later, the CB CID included the name of Inspector Sridhar and arrested him near Kovilpatti according to reports.

Earlier, CB-CID team visited Fenix’s mobile shop was checked the place from where his father was picked up by the police on June 19. The team then split into two, One team went to Fenix’s home and conducted an inquiry with his Mother and the second team went to the sathankulam police station.

Now, a recent report has revealed what happened during the interrogation of Inspector Sridhar, Sub Inspector Bala krishnan and constable Murugan. It has been said that all the three were affected by deep depression. When they were asked about why they tortured Jayaraj and Fenix in that brutal way, the Police officers said that they had beaten them like they do to any other normal prisoners. “We never expected them to die” they said according to reports.

Sub Inspector Balakrishnan who belongs to a lower middle class family, seemed very much worried and cried during the interrogation while thinking about his family’s future, reports said. Officers of CB CID consoled them during the interrogation, the report further said. As per their request, all the three were allowed to meet their family members. “They looked very much depressed till they were sent to the prison” sources in the CB CID said.

This case of Sathankulam lockup murder received nationwide attention after people came to know about the torture Fenix and Jayaraj went through. They owned a Mobile shop in Sathankulam town, Thoothukudi.  Now, after seeing this update from CB CID, people in social media reacted in various ways. Many of them slammed SI Balakrishnan, questioning why he failed to think on Fenix and Jayaraj’s family before beating them.
