While CB CID is investigating the case related to the death of student Srimathi who was studying 12th standard in a school named Sakthi Matriculation, a number of users from online platforms are busy investigating about the case in social media through commenting and sharing videos related to the student and the school. In the process, an online user named Bismillah Khan shared a video of a random student’s speech about Tamil language, Leader Kamarajar and claimed that it was Srimathi’s.
The video got widely shared by the users of Facebook and other social media platforms. As many as 66,000 online users shared the video, questioning how could Srimathi who was bravely giving speech about our language and leaders could have committed suicide. However, it turned out to be a fake post as the student who was providing speech in the video was identified as Bavadharini.
Appearing in a media channel, Bavadharini who gave the speeches 3,4 years ago, condemned the online users who are misusing internet platforms and spreading fake allegations. The CB CID is expected to identify the people who shared the videos and check their background in order to give them appropriate punishments.
Last week, a huge protest took place at Kallakurichi, Tamilnadu regarding the death of Srimathi, a teen student at a private residential school named Sakthi Matriculation. Initially, reports suggested that the girl wrote a letter reasoning the cause of her death but her parents who had doubts in their daughter’s demise, staged a protest with their relatives.

Though the teachers denied the allegations, parents and relatives of the student blocked the Kallakurichi-Salem highway on Wednesday, raising slogans against the school management. The incident took place near Kaniyamoor town.
In the note which was left behind, the girl named two teachers and accused them of torturing her and other two students to study always. “The two teachers were brought to the police station for an inquiry. They said that they just casually asked her to concentrate more and study hard as she was very playful” said S Selvakumar, SP of Kallakurichi. Close to 50 family members staged a “Road Roko” at the Kallakurichi-Salem highway seeking justice for her death, accusing the school management of pushing her to take the extreme step, said the police. The protest turned violent and massive on Sunday.
While the school was completely ransacked, the protesters set fire to all the school vehicles. During the protest, 55 policemen were injured due to stone pelting. Followed by the outrageous protest, Maths and Physics teacher were arrested.
According to police, more than 329 people who were involved in the riot were arrested. However, parents of the student are suspecting the school authorities and demanding the officials to take appropriate action against them. The case was transferred to CB CID and the investigations are currently underway.
Now, a fake video claiming that a student who was delivering a bold speech in her school function was Srimathi, went insanely viral in social media platforms. Brushing off the same, a student named Bavatharini appeared in front of media and stated that the girl who was giving speech in the videos are not Srimathi but herself. “It’s okay if you couldn’t make more women achievers, scientist and scholars, please don’t be a cause to create many more Srimathis” Bavatharini said to Polimer and requested elders not to misuse youtube and Facebook.
