The Allegations and Circumstances, Sradha Satheesh’s tragic suicide on the evening of Friday, June 2, has given rise to serious allegations of harassment by the authorities at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering. According to her collegemates, Sradha seemed fine until Friday afternoon when a distressing incident occurred during a lab session. Allegedly, a teacher snatched her phone when she took it out to check a notification. The teacher then took her to the office of the Head of Department (HOD), where she was scolded. Although the exact details of the interaction are unknown, Sradha emerged from the office expressing a desire to end her life. Her peers believe that she must have endured significant harassment to reach such a desperate state.

Another factor contributing to the allegations of harassment is a social media post by Sradha about the college. She participated in an online survey where she was asked a hypothetical question about reversing something from her past. Sradha responded that she would choose a different college. Some students speculate that this post may have provoked the authorities to take drastic measures.
On the day of her death, Sradha had returned to college after spending her holidays at home. According to Raghu Nandanan, a friend of Sradha’s father, they received a call from the HOD, Anoop, informing them that Sradha’s phone had been confiscated and that she had some pending papers. Unable to reach Sradha after contacting her roommate twice, her father received another call from the HOD later in the evening, stating that Sradha was unwell and had been hospitalized. Shockingly, within half an hour, a school manager called to inform them that “your daughter is gone,” displaying an utter lack of sensitivity in their choice of words.
