Media houses mistook South Indian actress Sonia Agarwal for a model of Bangalore in the same name for a drug-dealing case. The actress has posted a video of her phonic conversational recordings with a journalist expressing her misery due to the fake news.
It was reported that the police on Monday raided the houses of three persons, including a model, a DJ, and a realtor, for allegedly having links with a Nigerian drug peddler who was arrested with ecstasy pills worth ₹15.5 lakh on the 12th of August at Govindapura in Bangalore.
It was further reported that the police searched the houses of the suspects and arrested Sonia Agarwal, a city-based model, from a star hotel in RRMR circle, where she was hiding. The police seized three packets of narcotics from her house and are questioning her about the source of the drugs.
The arrested model was taken into custody for questioning, while the police have issued notices to DJ Vachan Chinnappa and realtor Bharath to appear for questioning.
On this note, the media houses mistook the model Sonia Agarwal for South Indian Actress. 39-year old Sonia Agarwal is an Indian actress known for her works predominantly in Tamil cinema and a few Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies. She is best known for her performances in the films such as Kaadhal Kondein (2003), 7G Rainbow colony (2004) and Pudhupettai (2006) which hit the box office and her acting was highly appreciated. Her other best movies are Kovil, Madhurey, Oru Kalluriyin Kathai, Oru Naal Oru Kanuvu, Thiruttu Payale and so on.
On the 30th of August 2021, Sonia Agarwal posted a Twitter post expressing her anguish against the fake news of her involvement in the sandalwood drug case. The post read as, “Here my 2 cents for the media and for the journalist’s who doesnt bother to do their home work properly and is very eager to print and defame a person without any investigation…,whilst I am in Kerala shooting for my new project.”

Sonia Agarwal again posted a Twitter post that she will take legal action against her media house and the concerned journalist. The post read as, “PS – I will be taking appropriate legal action towards the concerned media houses and journalists for defamation and putting me and my family through this mental agony and shock caused by all the continuous calls and messages since morning.”

Apart from Twitter Sonia Agarwal also posted a video on her Instagram page of an audio record of a cell phonic conversation with a journalist. It was known that she is in Kerala in the shooting of her upcoming Tamil and Malayalam movie, ‘Grandma.’ Here is the video posted by her on Instagram with the caption, “Not everything media says is true.”
