Simran, is a popular Indian film actress, producer, and television personality who predominantly works in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She is one of the most successful actresses of the 1990s and early 2000s and is fondly referred to as the ‘Queen of Tamil Cinema’ by her fans. She has acted in over 130 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Simran started her career as a model before venturing into acting.

Her performance in the film ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’, directed by Mani Ratnam, was highly acclaimed, and she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film.

In 2003, Simran took a break from the film industry following her marriage to her childhood friend, Deepak Bagga, who is a businessman. They tied the knot in December 2003 in a private ceremony in New Delhi. The couple has two children, Adheep Odo and Aadit Veer. Simran moved to the United States after her marriage and lived there for a few years before returning to India.

Simran made a comeback to the film industry in 2008 with the film ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ directed by Gautham Menon, in which she played the role of Surya’s mother. She also acted in a few Telugu films, including ‘Okka Magaadu’ and ‘John Appa Rao 40 plus’, before taking another break from acting in 2011.

Apart from acting, Simran has also produced films under her banner, Simran and Sons. Her production company’s first film was ‘Jo’ in 2002, which starred her husband Deepak Bagga in the lead role. She also produced the films ‘Thambikku Indha Ooru’ and ‘Pattiyal’, both of which were critically acclaimed.

Simran is also a popular television personality and has hosted several shows, including ‘Simran Thirai’, ‘Simran Silks Sarees’, and ‘Jackpot’. She has also judged reality shows like ‘Jodi Number One’ and ‘Dancing Killadis’.
