Reports say that Yogi Babu may replace Vadivelu in Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi. Shoot for the film stopped after Vadivelu allegedly had creative differences with director Chimbudeven.

Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi was a 2006 hit period comedy that launched Chimbudeven and established Vadivelu’s career as a lead actor. A sequel to the film, Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi was launched amidst a lot of fanfare in 2017.

With Imsai Arasan 23 am Pulikesi, Vadivelu turned solo and the film’s resounding success propelled him to do more films of the ilk. The historical-comedy film, directed by Chimbudevan is produced by director Shankar. In 2016, the duo announced that they’re teaming up for the sequel titled Imsai Arasan 24th Pulikecei.

The film ran into trouble a few days after it went on floors. Later, the film was shelved as Vadivelu refused to shoot. The latest update is that Shankar is planning to revive the film again and has gone for a different hero to portray the role of Pulikecei.

A report published in an entertainment portal suggested that Shankar is planning to rope in Yogi Babu to play the titular role. Earlier, it was reported that Vadivelu and Shankar reconciled and that the sequel will take off soon. However, Vadivelu is said to have changed his mind and refused to turn up for the shoot again.

The spokesperson reiterated the actor’s claims that creative differences were the reason for his decision to walk out. “From the beginning, there were no efforts to make sure that Vadivelu sir was comfortable on the sets. His personal costumer was replaced with a new designer and this did not sit well with him. When we persisted, they behaved very badly. That’s why he walked out.”

Meanwhile, Yogi Babu is currently busy shooting for Dharma Prabhu, a fantasy comedy in which he plays Yaman. His other film Gurkha, directed by Sam Anton, wrapped up recently.

His upcoming films include Airaa, Shaitan Ka Bachcha, 100% Kadhal, Kuppathu Raja, Aalukku Paathi 50/50, Sathuranga Vettai 2, Adangathey, Nindru Kolvaan, and Maanik. He has also signed for a film directed by Balayya along with Muniskanth.

Shankar and team believe that Yogi Babu’s impeccable comedy timing would be suitable for the film. Also, he is one of the sought-after comedy actors in Kollywood. If the rumours are believed to true, then it would be a nice twist to Imsai Arasan 24th Pulikecei especially because Vadivelu’s form has been questionable in the last few films.

Imsai Arasan 24th Pulikecei will be helmed by Chimbu Deven, who directed the first part as well. An official announcement regarding Yogi Babu’s inclusion is yet to arrive.
