As the bus journey commenced, a trainee bus conductor named Annathai approached Kanimozhi and her accompanying group, requesting them to purchase tickets for the ride. In response, Sharmila purportedly intervened, claiming that they had already obtained their tickets and dismissing the need for further inquiry.

Following the incident, Annathai promptly reported the altercation to the bus owner, Duraikanu.
