In response to the water crisis, more than 20 residents, mostly orators, took part in a sit-in protest at the apartment complex. They demanded that the water problem be addressed immediately and alleged that while family members were paying a maintenance fee of 2,500 rupees, the speakers had only paid 9,000 rupees collectively.

It was at this point that Shakila became aware of the situation and decided to take action. Despite having no direct involvement with the apartment complex, Shakila voiced her support for the residents and joined them in their protest.
