Ahead of the release of director Rathna kumar’s third film “Gulu Gulu”, music composer Santhosh Narayanan came up with a tweet in his official twitter handle, saying that the Santhanam starrer will be “the” successor of “Soodhu Kavvum”, an epic dark comedy film that acted as Vijay Sethupathi’s biggest break in his career.

Released in 2013, “Soodhu Kavvum” of Nalan Kumarasamy set a bench mark among the multi starrer crime thrillers with ouch of dark comedy. Along with Vijay Sethupathi, the film had Bobby Simha, Ashok Selvan, Ramesh Thilak, Karunakaran and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles. The film’s music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan.

The film’s plot revolves around a small time kidnapper involves himself and his gang in a trouble after deciding to kidnap the son of a minister. Facing a brutal policeman, honest politician and a cunning kidnap victim, protagonist and his gang trying all the ways possible to get away but failing. The climax of the film relies on whether the gang managed to escape the situation or not.

The film worked extremely well among the Tamil audience and was remade in several other languages as well. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 2 crore and collected nearly Rs. 35 core. Most importantly, it garnered a huge fan base post its theatrical release. Now, music director Santhosh Narayanan who composed music for the film, came up with a personal opinion saying that “Gulu Gulu will become “the” successor of “Soodhu Kavvum”.

As the film is hitting the screens of 29th of July, the music composer, in his tweet, said “#GuluGulu releases in a few hours. It is “the” true successor to #SoodhuKavvum in my personal opinion. I wish a grand success to @MrRathna and our team. Watch it in theatres near you !! Gullu bhai will win you over for sure 🤗🤗” the musician said.
