Union minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah is visiting Chennai today to inaugurate a series of developmental projects and meeting representatives of the Tamil nadu BJP unit and senior leaders of ally AI ADMK. He is scheduled to start his visit by paying floral tributes to veteran AIADMK leaders and former chief ministers MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalitha at the Kalaivanar Arangam at 4 : 30 PM, after which he is expected to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various developmental projects, including the Chennai metro rail project Phase 3.

He is also expected to meet Tamil nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy and deputy chief minister O Panneer Selvam at the Kalaivanar Arangam. Plans of meeting the office bearers of Tamil nadu BJP unit to chalk out the strategies for the upcoming polls is also expected.

Ahead of his visit, Tamil nadu social media has already divided into two. A set of people are trending hashtags opposing the visit of the BJP leader whereas another set of social media users are welcoming his arrival. “Go Back Amit Shah” and “TN Welcomes Amit Shah” are trending simultaneously with thousands of tweets.

Meanwhile, a number of social media users are posting tweets comparing Amit Shah with Tamil actor/filmmaker Santhana Bharathi and posting tweets to tickle the laughing bones of the micro blogging social media site users. Veteran Tamil filmmaker Mahendran’s son John Mahendran who is known for directing actor Vijay in “Sachein”, posted a tweet writing “Go Back Amit Ji, we already have Santhana Bharathi ji.” by posting a picture of both of them who are looking similar.

Another twitter user posted a tweet talking to the character played by Santhana Bharathi in Kamal Haasan’s “Anbe Sivam” movie. “You have reformed in Anbe Sivam, Aandavar (Kamal) accepted you as a God. But, in real life, it doesn’t matter if you have reformed or not. We don’t need you because we don’t need Hindutva” he said in his tweet.
