Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a well-known actress in the South Indian film industry, has recently been making headlines after her latest film Shaakuntalam failed to perform at the box office. The film, directed by Gunasekhar and produced by Dil Raju, was made on a budget of around Rs 60 crore and was sold to a streaming giant for Rs 35 crore. However, according to reports, the film suffered a loss of Rs 20 crore, leaving the producers with a significant financial burden.

She recently attended the global premiere of the TV series Citadel in London, dressed in black for the occasion. In an Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude for being able to attend the event and be a part of the show’s team. She described the atmosphere at the premiere as inspiring and invigorating, praising the camaraderie, creativity, talent, love, shared vision, and dream of the people involved in the series.

Adding fuel to the fire, acclaimed filmmaker Chittibabu made derogatory comments about Sam’s career after the failure of Shaakuntalam. He claimed that her career “as the heroine is finished and she cannot get back to stardom again.” In a recent interview with Filmy Looks, he also accused Samantha of resorting to “cheap tactics” to promote her movies and doing “whatever offers she is getting” after losing the status of a star heroine. He went on to say that he did not have any interest in Shaakuntalam and criticized Samantha for playing the lead role despite allegedly losing her heroine status.

Sam, who had previously expressed disappointment about Shaakuntalam’s box office performance, appeared to respond to Chittibabu’s comments with a post on her Instagram Stories. She shared a screenshot of her Google search for “How do people have hair growing from ears” along with the hashtag “IYKYK (If you know, you know).” Fans speculated that this was a subtle jab at Chittibabu’s comments, suggesting that he was talking out of his ear and didn’t know what he was talking about.

The controversy surrounding Shaakuntalam and Samantha’s career has sparked a debate among fans and industry insiders. While some have criticized the film’s producers for overspending and failing to deliver a successful product, others have defended Samantha’s talent and ability to bounce back from this setback.
