Salman Khan is a renowned Indian film actor, producer, singer, and television personality. Former India cricketer and commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan recently expressed his disapproval of the use of traditional South Indian clothing in Salman Khan’s latest music video ‘Yentamma’ from the upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. In the video, Salman Khan and South Indian actor Venkatesh can be seen wearing bright yellow shirts and traditional South Indian mundus, while another popular actor, Ram Charan, makes a cameo appearance.

Sivaramakrishnan shared his opinion on Twitter, stating that the use of the mundu in the video was “highly ridiculous” and “degrading the South Indian culture.” He also clarified that what was being shown in the video was not a lungi, as some people had suggested, but a dhoti, which is a classical outfit that should not be portrayed in a “disgusting manner.”

He came up with a note in his tweet that ” This is highly ridiculous and degrading our South Indian culture. This is not a LUNGI , THIS IS A DHOTI. A classical outfit which is being shown in a DISGUSTING MANNER”

Following this He mentioned another tweet “Nowadays people do anything for money. Won’t they research what is a Lungi and a Dhoti. Even if it’s a set, it’s being projected as a temple. People associated with the movie should realise, no footwear inside the temple premises. Appealing to @CBFC_India to consider to BAN this”.

The former cricketer also took issue with the fact that the video showed the actors wearing footwear inside what was supposed to be a temple, which he called a “disrespectful” and “disgusting” portrayal of Hindu religious culture. He appealed to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to consider banning the video altogether.

Sivaramakrishnan’s comments were met with support from several Twitter users, who agreed with his criticism of the video’s cultural appropriation and lack of sensitivity towards Hindu religious traditions.
