After arresting a nurse and her husband for stealing cash and jewels that is worth Rs. 2.40 crore from Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor’s house, Delhi Police have now arrested a Goldsmith who had purchased the theft items. The jewellery was stolen from Sonam and her husband Anand Ahuja’s Amritha Shergill Road residence by a nurse and her husband.

The jeweller who bought the stolen items from the accused has been identified as Dev Varma, 40,a resident of Kalkaji. The Police officials had said that a stolen jewellery that worth more than Rs. 1 crore which includes 100 diamonds, 6 gold chains, diamond bangles, a diamond bracelet, two tops and one brass coin.

A Hyundai i10 car which was purchased from the stolen amount has been recovered, according to reports. Other recoveries are still in process, the report added. Earlier, the Police officials had said that valuables that worth Rs. 2.40 crore has been stolen from the house.

The theft had taken place on 11th of February and the FIR has been filed on the accused on 24th of February in the Tughlaq Road Police station. The manager of the house which was jointly owned by Sonam and her husband has made the complaint. Police said that the house employs more than 40 people and Sonam and her husband spends only little time in the time as they largely occupied between Mumbai and London.

Aparna Ruth Wilson who was a nurse by profession was arrested at first along with her husband Naresh Sagar. The nurse was hired to look after the 86 year old mother-in-law of the actress. The couple, reportedly spent the stolen money to pay off their debts, medical expenses of their parents and renovating their house. The couple are accused of stealing valuables that worth Rs. 2.4 crores from the house where Sonam Kapoor spends time with her in-laws.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Meena said that the biggest challenge during the investigation was the lack of knowledge about the time lag between the theft and when the owners noticed the theft.

Wilson, the main accused was working at a hospital as nurse where Sonam’s mother-in-law went for treatment. Knowing that there’s a requirement for nurse in the house, Wilson joined and came to know about the valuables. After planning to steal it with the husband, the nurse gave sedatives to the victim at nights and stolen the valuables in a course of 10-11 months, according to police officials.

FIR was filed under the Indian Penal code section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) said Police. Special staff branch of New Delhi District and The Crime branch are also probing into the matter.
