Official Twitter handle of Greater Chennai Police is pretty active nowadays and has been responding to the complaints that are being made through the micro blogging social media site. On Thursday, a reply made by the official handle of the Police department to a food related post went wrong as they said that it was an unnecessary post. However, it was clarified later through the same handle saying that the reply was made for someone who retweeted it through the Greater Chennai Police handle and regretted for the blunder made.

On Wednesday night, a Twitter user named Abubacker who is enjoying 13k plus followers in Twitter, came up with a picture of a food item and captioned it as “மாட்டு கறி♥️🥰”

Initially, the official twitter handle of “Greater Chennai Police-GCP” commented on the post saying that it was an unnecessary post. “This kind of post is not needed here” read the comment of GCP.

The reply got severely criticized by the public as, in Tamil society, it is highly believed that the food habit of an individual shouldn’t be judged, criticized or condemned. While many other users of Twitter came up tweets quoting GCP’s reply expressing their displeasure, Chennai Police came up with a clarification.

Through a couple of tweets, the Police said “The post you (Abubacker) uploaded got retweeted by the official page of Greater Chennai Police and our reply was made to warn about the twitter handle that is used for public people, shouldn’t share the posts of individuals”

“But the reply was mistakenly made under your post and we regret for it. The reply wasn’t made referring to your food choice” the Greater Chennai Police added in their reply. It is believed that a number of admins are handling the account and the reply was made to the one who retweeted the post. However, the clarification still confused few users but many who condemned GCP accepted the regret.
