Starring Bobby Simha as the protagonist, Agni Devi is a political thriller with Madhubala in the role of the antagonist. She is seen as a politician and comes across as a vicious woman in the film, from what is known about Agni Devi as of now.
It is said that Bobby Simha backed out of the project as the makers didn’t film according to the initial script. Simha’s role is dubbed by Daniel Balaji and in some scenes, dupes and CGI have replaced the actor. The ingenious thing about the film is that it is not clear whether the watchable portions were part of the initial script or the nauseating later drafts.
Despite the court order for a stay on director John Paulraj’s Agni Devi, the film released in theatres. The stay was issued by a sub-ordinate court in Coimbatore on March 22, in response to actor Bobby Simha’s complaint stating that the movie was shot with his body double, and that he had quit the film after five days of shoot due to creative differences with the director.
The actor said that he had opted out of Agni Devi (which was titled Agni Dev back then) after working on the film for five days. Apparently, Simhaa noticed that the director had made significant changes to the script and the scenes which were shot with him were in no way related to the script that was narrated to him.
Now it is reported that to solve the issue, Tamil Film Producers Council is said to have tried to reach Bobby Simha but the actor refused to attend the meet as he doesn’t want an amicable solution with the producers of Agni Devi and prefers to solve the matter only through the court.
Pissed off by Bobby Simha’s behavior, Tamil Film Producers Council is said to have issued a red card and asked its members to not make any new films with the actor. Earlier, Simha blamed TFPC for supporting Agni Devi which was shot by bypassing all the guidliness of the contract.
Producer’s council member Praveen Kanth in an interview said that what Bobby Simha did was completely atrocious. “He made the producer abscond and now no producer will make film with him. The reason he asked for the reshoot is nothing but the character of actress Madhu Bala which has more scope than him. After watching the movie I called him and asked him to watch the movie for which he is not ready at all. He ruined the 2 or 3 crore profit by giving interviews” said Praveen Kanth to the press. Praveen also said that Tamil cinema producers are suffering from Tamil rockers and now these kind of actors are ruining their lives.
“We who are working under Mr.Vishal decided to boycott Bobby Simha. Every producer in Tamil film industry are in extreme anger against him and they are going to boycott him. This kind of arrogant artistes are not deserved to grow.” Praveen Kanth added.
