Rajasthan, Youth climbed the water tank protest for Denied Compassionate Job in Bharatpur”In a dramatic incident that unfolded in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, a frustrated young man took to extreme measures to draw attention to his plea for a compassionate job appointment. The youth, identified as Radheshyam alias Gaurav, climbed on top of a water tank, demanding justice for his father who had served in the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). Radheshyam’s desperate act of climbing on top of a water tank in Bharatpur sent shockwaves through the city. The young man’s frustration stemmed from the fact that his father, Jawahar Singh, a CRPF personnel, had passed away in 1999 due to encephalitis. Sadly, Singh was not given the status of a martyr, and Radheshyam was ineligible for a compassionate appointment due to his age at the time.

Following Radheshyam’s eighteenth birthday, the CRPF contacted him, offering a compassionate appointment. However, he was declared physically unfit for the role, leaving him in a state of despair. In 2020, the CRPF sent a letter to the state government recommending an LDC (Lower Division Clerk) job for Radheshyam. Despite his earnest efforts, he faced countless hurdles in his quest for employment and had spent three years seeking assistance from various ministers and MLAs without success.

When Cabinet Minister Vishvendra Singh learned about Radheshyam’s plight, he personally visited the scene. Using a loudspeaker, the minister urged the young man to come down from the water tank, citing his own health concerns. Moved by the minister’s emotional plea, Radheshyam descended the stairs and held the minister’s feet, sharing his pain and anguish. Minister Vishvendra Singh assured him that he would receive a compassionate job appointment soon and advised him against resorting to such extreme actions in the future.

The incident in Bharatpur brings attention to the larger issue of compassionate appointments and the challenges faced by individuals seeking them. The system, designed to provide support and solace to families who have lost their breadwinners in service, often encounters delays and bureaucratic hurdles. In Radheshyam’s case, the lapse in recognizing his father’s martyrdom and subsequent struggles for a job added to his frustration and desperation.
