Atharvaa, Producer’s Complaint Against Actor, In a startling turn of events in the world of Tamil cinema, a simmering dispute has emerged between producer Mathiyalagan of ETC ECTERA Entertainment and well-known actor Atharvaa. The crux of the issue revolves around the film “Semma Bodha Aagadhey,” a project that has been mired in controversy for four years and has left Mathiyalagan seeking legal recourse.

The saga began with a promising agreement between Mathiyalagan’s firm, ETC ECTERA Entertainment, and Atharvaa’s production house, Kickass Entertainment. The agreement stipulated the purchase of the film “Semma Bodha Aagadhey” for a substantial sum of Rs 5 crore 50 lakhs on an outright basis. The understanding was crystal clear: Kickass Entertainment would create and release the film by March 29, 2018.

However, as time unfolded, Mathiyalagan found himself abiding by his end of the bargain by transferring the entire agreed-upon sum to Kickass Entertainment, while Atharvaa’s firm failed to meet their side of the agreement by not completing the film on the promised date. Consequently, the film missed its release date, and the agreement underwent an automatic transformation from an outright deal into one of distribution.

This shift in the nature of the agreement left Mathiyalagan in a predicament, compelling him to step into the shoes of a distributor and shoulder the responsibility of compensating those who had purchased the film from him and subsequently incurred losses. Mathiyalagan’s attempts to address the issue with Kickass Entertainment were met with avoidance and evasion.

In an effort to resolve this escalating dispute, Mathiyalagan took the matter to the Producer Council. Vishal, the President of the Producer Council at that time, along with council members, devised a suggestion to find an amicable solution. According to this proposal, Atharvaa would act in another film to be produced by Mathiyalagan’s company, titled “Minnal Veeran.” Atharvaa would receive a compensation of Rs 1 crore for his role, with all profits from this film designated to compensate for the losses incurred by Mathiyalagan due to “Semma Bodha Aagadhey.” However, Atharvaa was granted the authority to select the film’s director and music director.

Mathiyalagan, in his complaint, claimed that he agreed to this arrangement, hoping it would help him recoup the financial losses incurred from the previous film. An advance payment of Rs 45 lakhs was made to Atharvaa on June 7, 2018, along with Rs 74,25,000 to other cast and crew members. However, when Mathiyalagan sought to discuss the film’s storyline with Atharvaa, he was met with evasion and procrastination.

Subsequently, Mathiyalagan and his team attempted to retrieve their investment. After numerous visits to Atharvaa’s office and a barrage of phone calls, Atharvaa transferred Rs 15 lakhs to their account, assuring them that the remaining Rs 30 lakhs would be returned within three months. Despite this assurance, Atharvaa allegedly continued to evade the matter and failed to fulfill his commitment, leaving Mathiyalagan in a state of exasperation and financial turmoil.

Now, Mathiyalagan is seeking justice and has turned to the police to recover a total sum of Rs 6 crore 10 lakhs from Atharvaa. This sum encompasses both the losses incurred due to the delay in releasing “Semma Bodha Aagadhey” and the money paid to Atharvaa for his role in “Minnal Veeran.”
