Actor “Nellai” Thangaraj who played an important role in “Pariyerum Perumaal”, died due to poor health during the wee hours of Friday. Director Maari Selvaraj came up with a post in his official Twitter handle, mourning for the demise of the actor who is a street artist by profession.
“Nellai” Thangaraj was living in a thatched hut due to his financial situation. The role he played in the Maari Selvaraj directorial impressed critics and general audience. It was dubbed as one of the most impactful role in recent times. Thangaraj was expected to get more opportunities in Tamil films but unfortunately he didn’t get any. It is also said that he didn’t try too much to act in films as well.
In the scene where he gets humiliated by a group of college students, brought tear to eyes of the viewers while watching the film. The song, in which he appears as a dancer created huge impact among the audience as well, thanks to music director Santosh Narayanan and director Mari Selvaraj.
He was living in his house without electricity in Palayangottai, Thirunelveli district. As a result of his popularity through the film, Pariyerum Perumaal, a house was built for the actor on behalf of Tamil Nadu government.
Among the many who were offering condolences for the actor, director Mari Selvaraj came up with a tweet in his official Twitter handle, remembering him. “Enough of dancing aggressively, take rest father. Your footprint will stay till my last creation. Pariyerum Perumaal” read the tweet of Maari Selvaraj.
