2-year-old Sujith fell into a 25-feet deep borewell in Nadukattupatti of Tiruchirappalli district on Friday. Even after 15 hours of the incident, rescue operation for the 2 year old Sujith Wilson is still on.

In a set back to the rescue mission, Sujith who was at a 30 meter depth initially has now fallen further down to a distance of 65 meters.Soon after receiving the information, rescue teams rushed the spot and first dug the land adjacent to the borewell, using an earthmover, to create a tunnel to reach Sujith. However, the fire service team stopped drilling the land due to rock terrains below 10 feet.

Sujith Wilson fell into a borewell in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli while playing near his house at 5:30 pm on Friday. A team from the National Disaster Response Force is on its way to join efforts to rescue the boy. “The team will join the rescue effort in less than two hours. The boy is trapped in a depth of 65 feet,” senior police officer in Tiruchirappalli Ziauk Haque told NDTV.

It is not clear yet how deep the borewell is. While some say it is 600-feet deep, others put its depth at 1,000 feet.”Initially one of his hands was knotted using a rope sent through a pipe and he remained in a depth of 26 feet. Attempts to knot the other hand too and pull him up slipped in the last moment,” Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar, who is on the ground with rescuers, said.

Besides fire and rescue teams, a Madurai-based plumber, whose robotic innovation had helped rescue a trapped child, is also at the spot. After so many attempts for 20 long hours, now the rescuers has decided to save the child through a way new method.

People in social media are very much concerned about the child which made them to pray for the child’s recovery. They also started showing their support through various hashtags. Meanwhile an old video of a child getting trapped into a borewell got surfaced.

Through the video which shows an incident that happened in China, we can see the rescue operators of China saving a child from a bore well within minutes. The caption of the post asked the government on when it is going to learn from its mistakes.

Though oxygen is being supplied into the borewell for Sujith, rescuers are concerned that being without and water for hours will pose a threat to the child’s life.
