The most awaited “Ponniyin Selvan” first look posters were released by Lyca Productions on 2nd of March with the official confirmation on the film’s release date. The Makers have confirmed that the film is going to get released on 30th of September this year and showed a glimpse of the lead characters by releasing their posters. As soon as the posters go released, various kind of reactions are flooding the Internet. Most importantly, many users expressed their displeasure over he quality of designs and few also pointed out why the girls surrounded by Trisha are dark skinned.

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam has completed the shoot of the first part of his adaptation of the epic novel, which has been titled “Ponniyin Selvan-1”. The most awaited magnum opus is produced by Lyca productions in association with Madras Talkies, and it has music scored by A.R Rahman.

Story of “Ponniyin Selvan” is set in the 10th century during a tumultuous time in the Chola empire when the power struggle between different branches of the ruling family caused rifts between the potential successors to the reigning emperor. The first look posters included the actors Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai and Trisha.

“Ponniyin Selvan” novel revolves around brave soldiers, cunning spies and evil schemers all try to win the empire for themselves. The makers are expected to do justice for the novel which is one of the most ambitious project of Tamil cinema. However, the posters seems to be a let down for some of the online users who are venting their emotions out through their posts and memes.
