Tamil star Ajith Kumar’s much anticipated 59th film’s is expected to be released soon. Titled Nerkonda Paarvai, the H Vinoth directorial is the official remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s courtroom drama Pink, which released in 2016 and had Tappsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang in pivotal roles.
Ajith will portray the role of an aged lawyer, the part played by Amitabh in the original film, in Nerkonda Paarvai. National award winning actress Vidya Balan is also making her Tamil debut and is paired opposite Ajith in the film. However, she does not appear in the two-minute-long trailer.
She is playing the role of Ajith Kumar in the movie according to the reports. Though she is against the remake, the actress accepted to do the movie only for Boney Kapoor and Sridevi. In an interview with The Hindu, the actress revealed her experience in working with Ajith Kumar. Vidya Balan said that Ajith as a person is different from Ajith as a superstar. The actress said that she was floored by Ajith’s personality.
Vidya was quoted as saying, “I couldn’t believe that the guy, who drives people mad, was standing in front of me with utmost simplicity.” She added, “To be honest, I felt as though I was acting with his lookalike. He was that humble. When I spoke to him about the ‘Thala’ image and how different he was in person, he was shy.” She said that her role is “small yet special”, and its treatment is different in this version. She also reveals her character also features in a song sequence. It is notable that the actress is making her Tamil debut through this film.
Shraddha Srinath, Andrea Tariang and Abhirami Venkatachalam, Adik Ravichandran, Rangaraj Pandey are doing the important roles. Delhi Ganesh, Arjun Chidambaram, Ashwin Rao and others are also in the cast.
The film was officially launched on 14 December 2018 with a formal pooja in Chennai. The budget is expected to be around Rs.60 crores. It is revealed that Ajith’s 60th film will also be a team-up with Boney Kapoor and will be directed by H Vinoth once again. Shooting was wrapped up in early April 2019.
