NCC Cadets Endure Brutal Training Incident: A Reflection on the Good and the Bad

In a shocking incident that took place during National Cadet Corps (NCC) training at Bandodkar College in Thane, adjoining Mumbai, a video surfaced on social media capturing a distressing scene. A group of eight young NCC cadets was seen enduring a harsh punishment amid heavy rain. The cadets were forced to perform push-ups with their faces submerged in a muddy puddle, while a senior NCC cadet brandished a stick and struck them forcefully, one by one.

The identities of the cadets involved remain undisclosed, but the man wielding the stick was identified as a senior NCC cadet. His act of administering brutal beatings was purportedly in response to the cadets’ inability to perform a challenging drill, as per his demands.

The distressing scene depicted in the video revealed some of the cadets visibly in pain and tears, prompting concern and condemnation from the online community and the general public. A student from the college captured the incident from behind a window, bringing this troubling act to light.

Upon learning of the incident, the college’s principal, Suchitra Naik, reacted swiftly, stating that the matter would be treated with utmost seriousness. She emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and assured that appropriate action would be taken against the senior student involved in the abuse.
