Director Velu Prabhagaran who is known for directing films since 1989, in a movie event, made a statement on the actress Nayanthara selling the streaming rights of her marriage event for Rs. 50 crore. The filmmaker expressed his disappointment over actors flaunting their luxurious lifestyle which was earned from poor people.

Referring to veteran actor MGR, the filmmaker said that he used to keep events like marriages of his relatives as simple as possible due to the guilt over earning money from poor and needy and flaunting his luxurious lifestyle in front of them.

Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara fell in love during the making of their first film “Naanum Rowdy Thaan”. Since that, the couple were involved in a live-in relationship for 7 long years and successfully got married now. On the professional font, they both started a production venture named “Rowdy Pictures” and has been producing and distributing films through that banner. On Thursday, the couple got married in Mahabalipuram, Chennai.

It has been reported that Superstar Rajinikanth handed over the mangalsuthra to Vignesh shivan to tie the knot. Actor Vijay, Shah Rukh Khan, Suriya, Ajith kumar, Karthi and many other important celebrities from Indian film industry participated in the event to bless the most loved couple of Kollywood town.

Ever since the announcement of Wikki-Nayanthara marriage surfaced, a report on the couple selling the streaming rights of their marriage event to famous OTT platform Netflix was doing rounds. Various reports mentioned various amounts as the price fixed by the celebrity couple.

Now, in a movie event, director Velu Prabhagaran who is known for directing films such as Naalaya Manithan, Athisaya Manithan, Asuran, in a event, said that actors with minimum profile are using helicopters for their personal trips and explained how MGR used to stay simple in order to not let the poor people feel left alone.

“He will feel shy to conduct grand marriage events for his own relatives as he would think that the money he earned came from poor people and making them long is not a kind act” said the filmmaker and went on to mention about actress Nayanthara selling her marriage to Netflix for Rs. 50 crore.

“Take Nayanthara’s marriage for example. She sold her marriage for Rs. 50 crore. She has all the rights to do that but the one who buys it would look to earn Rs. 500 crore only through exploiting our people. What character you have ?? This is a country where lot of poor people live and you are instigating them. Another celebrity would come and conduct even more grand marriage saying that it his status” said the filmmaker and continued to scold the celebrities who flaunt their lavish belongings to people who can’t afford it.
