In an incident that took place near Kodad town in Suryapet district, Telengana, a woman tied her son to a pole and rubbed mirchi powder in his eyes to make him promise on not consuming “Ganja” in future. Video of the incident is being widely shared in social media platforms with two set of people debating over the mother’s act.

The viral video showed the boy being tied to a concrete pole outside the house in a street while his mother kept rubbing the chilli and the boy screaming to make her stop.

While interacting with a local media channel, the woman who identified herself as Ramana, a daily worker, said that her son is addicted to “Ganja” for nearly over a year. The woman said that she was helpless ans there is no one to help her in making him stop the abuse, said the report of Hindu.

Ramana wanted Kodad Police to take strict action against the consumption of Ganja among youngsters. “My only intention was to set him straight” Mother said to the media. The Mother and her neighbours untied the boy after he screamed on quitting the habit.

While, a set of online users supported the woman’s treatment to her son on making him quit the habit, another set of people condemned her for the she treated him.

This punishment may look harsh, but, keeping the consequences for him and the dangers to the society in future, in mind, I appreciate the responsible behavior of the mother. I am sure it will be more painful for her than for him.
