Hailing from a Syro Malabar Catholic family, Miya was born in Dombivli, Mumbai. At the age of four, she relocated to Pala in Kottayam, Kerala. She pursued her education at Sacred Heart Girls High School and St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Bharananganam. Miya went on to earn a B.A. degree from Alphonsa College, Palai, and completed her Masters in English Literature at St. Thomas College, Palai. Miya embarked on her acting career by portraying supporting roles in popular television serials like “Alphonsamma” and “Kunjali Marakkar.” Her breakthrough in the film industry came when she appeared in the movies “Doctor Love” and “Ee Adutha Kaalathu.” However, it was her participation in the Kerala Miss Fitness pageant in 2012 that truly propelled her into the spotlight.

In 2012, Miya landed her first lead role in the Malayalam film “Chettayees,” directed by Shajoon Kariyal. Her portrayal of the wife of Biju Menon’s character garnered critical acclaim and established her as a promising talent in the industry. In September 2020, she married businessman Ashwin Philip in a simple ceremony at St. Mary’s Basilica Church in Ernakulam. They welcomed their first child in July 2021. However, their joy was tempered by the loss of Miya’s father, George Joseph, just two months later.
