A married man from Chennai named Sekar got arrested by Police for stealing 550 sovereigns of Gold from his own house and spending it on his girl friend, a model named Swathi. According to Polimer, the model, during the Police investigation, had said that she spent all the Gold by consuming alcohol in 5 star hotels. She also received 3 expensive cars and 1 Ducati bike worth Rs. 10 lakh from Sekar and said that she two cars and the bike to her friends.

The arrest of both Sekar and Swathi took place on Monday. Police officials had said that the main accused Sekar, eldest brother of the family was in Cahoots with Swathi, a 22 year old model who was trying to get into film industry for a long time. Family of Sekar owns a bakery in Poonamalle and is also running a finance business, according to reports.

Rajesh, younger brother of Sekar filed a complaint in police station alleging that 550 sovereigns of Gold missing from their house. It has been reported that Rajesh got separated from his wife and she left to the house of her parents a year ago. Making use of the absence of her sister-in-law, Sekar who had access to all the lockers and cupboards, took her jewels in installment and gave it to Swathi, his girlfriend whom he met through a broker.

Through the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that Sekar is married and has two children. Two years ago, he got into a relationship with Swathi who belongs to Velacherry. Police said that Sekar’s wife is suffering from health ailment and is recovering. Not only the jewels of his sister-in-law, Sekar also jewellery and seven gold bars, each weighing one hundred grams that belongs to his mother and gave it to Swathi.

A senior police official had said that the complaint of the family mentioned about 550 sovereigns missing from the house and the preliminary investigation has revealed at least 200 sovereigns of Gold being stolen from the home. Apart from the jewellery, Sekar gifted Swathi three cars and a Ducati bike. As soon as the complaint was made, Sekar got absconded. On Monday, Poonamalle police arrested the duo and produced before a magistrate. They duo got remanded in judicial custody as per the reports.
