A 33-year-old private firm employee alleged he had placed an order with Flipkart for a 20gm gold coin, but received an empty box from PVC Logistics.

HAL police said they have registered a case of cheating against Flipkart and PVC Logistics, based on a complaint lodged by Amit Kumar Garg, a resident of Basavanagar near HAL.

Garg told police he placed the order for the gold coin on December 8 and made an online payment of Rs 61,755.

Garg received a parcel from an employee of PVC Logistics on December 28 and he opened it in front of the delivery boy. He was shocked to find there was no gold coin and asked the delivery boy about it, who suggested he contact the Flipkart helpline.

A case of cheating under IPC 420, against the e-commerce and logistics firm has been filed. “We have registered a cheating case and have issued a notice to Flipkart on the same. The investigation is underway. The complaint was filed with us because the alleged victim did not receive any response through emails from Flipkart,” the police said.

The police will now investigate if the coin was never dispatched or if it went missing along the way.
